Once your new pool is ready to use, you have to decide how to fill it. While some people connect a hose to their domestic water supply to fill their pools, you can also pay a water delivery company to do this job for you. How does this service work? What are its advantages?

How Does a Pool Water Delivery Work?

Pool water delivery companies use water tankers to fill pools. They can fill a new pool for the first time, replace old water, or refresh a pool with low water levels.

You simply tell the company how much water you need. If you aren't sure, they will help you estimate your volumes. They'll also check what kind of access they will have to your pool area.

The company then brings a tanker to your home. They position it close enough to the pool to set up their delivery hoses and then pump water into the space. If you have a particularly large pool, they may partially fill it and then take the tanker back to refill it before coming back to finish the job.

You sometimes get a choice of water types here, depending on the company you use. Some companies use the same municipal water you use at home; others supply potable drinking water.

In some cases, you can order water that has been pre-treated for pool use. For example, some suppliers will chlorinate water before they deliver it.

Why Use a Pool Delivery?

The biggest advantage of having a pool water delivery is speed. If you use a hose to fill a pool from your home water supply, then it will take you hours to fill a very small pool and days to fill a large one.

During this process, you have to monitor water levels and positioning at regular intervals. This is a time-consuming and frustrating process. You'll have to wait until you can use the pool.

If you organize a bulk water delivery, then a tanker fills your pool fast. Even large pools should be ready in less than a day. You also don't have to monitor the job. The delivery company does this for you.

You might also run into problems using your own water to fill a pool. You might need to get permission and pay a fee to use this much water at once; you might not be allowed to fill a pool from your home supply if you have water restrictions in your neighborhood.

Plus, if you use well water, then your pool water might not be clean enough to use without extra treatments. It might be too dirty to swim in.

If you use a water delivery service, then you don't have to worry about any of these problems. The company supplies pool-ready clean water even if you have local restrictions. You don't need to get permission to fill your pool.
